Michelle Obama wins second Grammy Award, tying husband Barack in Grammy wins

(The Hill) — Michelle Obama is a two-time Grammy Award winner after besting other high-profile nominees, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Meryl Streep.

The former first lady and Chicago native took home a Grammy on Sunday in Los Angeles during the awards pre-show. Obama won in the Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording category for the audiobook of her 2022 self-help-style memoir, “The Light we Carry.”

In addition to Sanders, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, and the mega-film star Streep, nominees in the category included actor William Shatner and veteran music producer Rick Rubin.

Obama first won a Grammy in the Spoken Word Album category for the narration of her 2020 bestseller, “Becoming.”

With her latest award, Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama are now tied for Grammy wins. The ex-commander in chief won in the Best Spoken Word Album category in both 2006 and 2008.
